The old residents at this house belonged to the RNC for at least some time. Since their forwarding order has expired, we got their letter.

In case anyone thought I was making up how much the RNC is salivating at having a Clinton to bash (and how much it will help their chances in November), here's the text of the letter. I'll note that Mrs Clinton is not yet the Democratic nominee, but they assume that their best chance to motivate someone to re-join the RNC with a donation is Hillary fear-mongering.

Dear Friend,

We have tried to reach you at home in Austin without success and our records list your 2008 membership status as "INACTIVE."

I hope that everything is okay and your 2008 Presidential Year Membership is simply late because you've been busy.

If you are upset with the Party, I hope you will consider the following:

We got the economy heading in the right difrection with the Bush tax cuts, we put Sam Alito and John Roberts on the Supreme Court and we are fighting terrorists with everything we have. Interest rates and unemployment are near all-time lows, inflation is stalemated, and our focus is on lower taxes, limited government, and a strong national defense.

Yet, each of these gains will be reversed if Hillary and the Democrats take TOTAL CONTROL in 2008.

With voter turnout deadlocked at 50 percent, a Republican Party at anything less than full membership strength risks losing the White House and having the liberals tighten their grip on both houses of the U.S. Congress.

In order to win, the time to lay the county-by-county groundwork for victory is now, and I am counting on you to stand with Republicans throughout Texas by rushing back your 2008 Presidential Year Member gift of $25, $35, $50, $75 or even $100 today.

Unchecked power is within Senator Hillary Clinton's reach and you can bet she and her allies are hoping you DON'T renew.

They KNOW what your support of the RNC means to our 2008 nominee, Republicans running for office in Travis County, the state house in Austin, and even Texas' Congressional delegation to Washington.

We are staring down the barrel at unprecedented tax hikes, courts filled with activist judges and a cut-and-run defense strategy and ONLY a united Republican party can counter the 'liberals' complete power grab by offering America a better choice.

Sincerely, Robert M. "Mike" Duncan
Chairman, Republican National Committee

P.S. Your 2008 Party membership is listed as "INACTIVE" and that gives Hillary Clinton and the radical MoveOn.org liberals a head start in winning the White House and gaining unchecked power for their tax-and-spend agenda. Please act now and support our 2008 Presidential nominee and Republicans in Texas and across America by sending back your 2008 Presidential Year Membership and gift of $25, $35, $50, $75, or even $100 today. Thank you.
